Shadow-
He soon went away to fulfill my order. That’s when I spotted William exiting the kitchen sans apron, holding a plate of food. I waved to get his attention. When he saw me, his face lit up like it had this morning.
“Good afternoon, Maddison,” he said as he sat. “I’m glad that you made it today, I was worried you wouldn’t come.” He turned red and tried to correct himself. “Er, I meant that I was worried that you wouldn't come and miss out on this great food.”
I smiled, “Are you sure you didn’t mean missing out on the great company?” I teased, enjoying the deeper red on his face.
At this point, Thomas came back with my food. “Here you are, mademoiselle,” he said in his soft voice. “Enjoy your food. Please don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything. Completely ignoring William, he made his way back to the kitchen.
“I love the way everyone adds to the ambiance. They really support the French theme,” I remarked.
“Who says it’s just a theme?” WIlliam asks. Putting on a French accent, “I make a convincing Francois, non?”
The way he said it made me laugh. William made sure to keep me laughing until I had to leave.
As I was walking back to work, I could’ve sworn that I heard a thud from the alley I passed. I thought I saw a shadow move too, but since I was about to be late, I didn’t stop to investigate.
