He yanked Angelina further into the dark alley, throwing her down and aiming his gun. “Of course. Now, if you don’t give me that brooch, I’ll shoot you and just take it from you. Save me some time and just hand it over,” he said.
“After all you did to help me get it, I’m surprised that you’d go through all this trouble to get it back. But that doesn’t matter now, I’ll just take it.” He raised to shoot when someone lept at him, knocking him to the ground, and tried to wrestle the gun away.
I ran to get Angelina and helped her up as shots rang through the alley. Four shots were fired, one hit the building, one hit me in the side, and the others hit Angelina square in the chest.
Angelina stumbled back and fell onto her back, gasping for air as her body was dying. “No!” I cried and fell to my knees and crawled toward her, hoping it wasn’t so. Pain racked my body but I didn’t care. I had to get to Angelina.
